COSTUME, HAIR, and MAKE-UP
Students must provide appropriate undergarments, stage make-up, stockings, socks, and shoes.
Students are responsible for applying make-up and styling their hair. The corresponding crews will instruct students.
Students should not cut their hair before a period piece.
Students may NOT wear jewelry or nail polish during a production unless approved by the director and costume crew.
GRADING PROCEDURES:
40% Daily classroom performance *
40% Performances and written tests
5% Written exam
15% Performance Exam
Be aware that all out-of-class activities are required and graded. Absences due to illness are excused with a doctor’s note only. In that case, make-up work will be assigned which should be turned in within 5 days.
* Students will receive a weekly participation grade that is based upon attendance, on-time arrival to class, and productive use of class time. Each day is given a value of 20 points with each week’s point total varying, based upon the number of class days in the week. Assuming that students are interested in the class and willing to put forth the required effort, all students begin each day with the full point value. Points will be deducted for tardiness or absence, not having materials for class, being off-task, or having gum/food in the classroom. While students do not earn points when they are absent, they will have several opportunities over the course of each semester to make up those points through working on an out of class production. Opportunities to make up your grade will be provided by the instructor. Requesting additional makeup opportunities is the responsibility of the student. All makeup assignments must be completed within 10 days of the end of each semester.
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals are required of all students. If you are called, the director expects you to attend. You are graded at each rehearsal. If you miss a rehearsal without a valid reason you will be pulled from the production you are in. If you miss more than three rehearsals with a valid reason, you will be pulled from the production. Finally, if you miss any rehearsals during performance week, you will not be allowed to audition for another show for the rest of the year. In addition, it will drastically affect your grade.
ACCEPTABLE USE & HONOR CODE POLICIES:
In the event that students have the opportunity to use computers to assist them in their studies, all students must abide by the Acceptable Use Policy for technology. This policy can be found in detail in the Grayson High School Parent/Student Handbook.
The Honor Code, also found in detail in the Parent/Student Handbook, will also be observed in this class. Any student found not abiding by this code would be subject to the consequences as stated in the handbook.
CONDUCT
This is a production company. The overriding principle of this class is professionalism. We are a company that can only succeed if we work together. We must count on each other for support theatrically and personally. You do not need to be close friends but you do need to respect each other and your director. In this class you will be treated as adults and as professionals unless you decide you need to be treated otherwise. All students must exhibit self-discipline. Students should be on time and prepared for class. All deadlines must be met. Since this is a production class, students are not only responsible for tasks given to them but for helping their fellow class members with they need assistance. There is no reason for a student to not be working if any other student is working. If you finish ahead of time, help other students. This is a talented and hardworking class.
